A Conundrum of Vegas Weddings
It seems a recent trend in weddings is to PLAN your destination wedding in Las Vegas. I've known of 2 couples in the past few months that have done this. Super! Have a destination wedding! Invite your family and friends, but if you are going to get married in Vegas you should do it VEGAS Style! You get 2 choices here (call me old fashioned)
1. Drive through wedding, spur of the moment at a small wedding chapel
2. Elvis should be officiating at your wedding.
If you decide that neither of these options works for you, then you shouldn't get married in Vegas! That town was built on eloping drunks and lots of gambling! To get married there in any other fashion just seems wrong. This topic has confused me for a long time now. The Conundrum that is Las Vegas weddings is yet to be solved. I understand it is a very fun city to party hardy before your nuptials. I know that many of the casinos have nice chapels so that people could have respectable weddings that they would be happy to invite all family and friends to. But - C'mon! Where is the fun in that? If you are going to throw caution to the wind and get married in Vegas at least be a little more "Vegas" about it. I have said my peace.
Mark and I will leave Friday to a scorching 2 days in Las Vegas for a good friend's wedding! We all now how hellish the desert can be in July - I'm very excited! I'm already getting sunburned just thinking about it! Wish me luck - we pink skins "no likeee" the sun and the heat. It makes me think of being hot and when I'm hot I get angry and ornery, and when I get ornery I throw things and scream (and sometimes cry). When I throw things and scream - I worry that Mark will think, "what the hell is wrong with this girl?" So, it can become a potential scary situation for all. I pray that all goes well. I'll try to keep my temper at a reasonable level because I know Mark & I will have a lot of fun no matter what! We did decide to rent a Mini Cooper and drive to Sin City! I'm very excited about that - plus Enterprise Picks -U- up! What a great gimmick! Also, I was able to find a "Raquel standard" hotel for a reasonable price. We'll be staying at the Renaissance Las Vegas. Most people don't know that Renaissance is owned by Marriott corporation and they are a lot of fun to stay in. We've stayed at the Renaissance Hollywood before, so I do have a point of reference as what to expect. I recommend the room service! Another selling point for me was the opportunity to buy a new outfit to wear to the wedding. I love new clothes. I'm very excited and I hope I look as good in person as I do in my head with this outfit on! So, Yay to the almost married couple. I wish them the best! And Wish me luck on the roulette table!
