Many Thanx
As I mentioned before M and I were able to travel to Utah for Thanksgiving to spend the holiday with our separate families, but together in the same county!
Thanksgiving with my family was just wonderful. I enjoyed the new dishes that mom and I opted to try. They were good and now that we have made them, we can tweak them a bit to make them even better next time. Our tables were beautiful and well decorated. It really helped the whole day feel warm and inviting for me. We had place cards so that we could mix up the family a bit and get different conversations going. We ended up having 15 this year for dinner- we have to have 2 large tables of people. Mom and dad don't like doing a "kids table" for many reasons, but I like it the way it is with young and old sprinkled at the tables together.
As the kids were filling out their "First Thanksgiving" trivia game that my mom had prepared, I reflected on that first Thanksgiving. There were 102 pilgrims that came on the Mayflower to the New World. After they struggled to survive, there were actually only 50 pilgrims at the first Thanksgiving and only 5 of that 50 were women. As a woman I thought what it must have been like for those 5-- that would be very difficult. I bet they were strong in body and spirit.
My parents and I were naming our favorite or most memorable Thanksgivings... for me it was about 8 or 9 years ago when we went to Sun Valley, Idaho for Thanksgiving. We ended up having the best meal ever at at a sushi restaurant that happened to be serving Thanksgiving dinner. It was more gourmet than one would get at home - and so delicious. I remember forcing my parents to go ice skating with me while we were in Sun Valley. Oh the fun! My other most memorable Thanksgiving was last year when my parents joined me in Los Angeles for a lovely meal at the Viceroy in Santa Monica. I actually have not had turkey on Thanksgiving for 2 years now. We were at such a great restaurant last year -- that I wanted to try their venison.(one of 4 different meats they were offering as a part of the Thanksgiving menu.) I wanted to try it mostly to see if I could shock my brothers and nephews) it was delicious and the boys were shocked that I would eat such a wild animal.
I enjoyed seeing my family and spending what little time that I could spare with my friends and with M's family. The weather wasn't SO cold, as there was no snow on the valley floor of Northern Utah. I was very happy when our plane landed back in LA Saturday night. It felt good to go away and very good to come back home.

I'm glad you had a good Thanksgiving! I totally understand about not having enough time to do everything. Wasn't the weather perfect? A little chilly but not freezing. I'm glad you had a good trip, maybe I'll see ya at Christmas!
That sounds great. Did you guys drive? Did I tell you I drove through L.A.? This was just before the demonstration outside the L.A. temple recently. Brandon and I went to Annaheim for an Optometrist presentation he had to participate in for credit and we decided to drive to Chinatown in L.A. and to another place by the beach that had a Lush shop and a Fresh shop but I forget where that was. I was very sick at the time still from my pregnancy so I was along for the ride...I liked Chinatown more than Brandon did. There just wasn't anything for him to buy there, but I bought a bunch of little Chinese makeup and jewelry bags-so pretty in all the cutest colors!I thought of you when we were driving through town. Although I'm sure L.A. is huge and we weren't near where you live. I'm glad you enjoyed your Thanksgiving!
