I Want To Be Barbie
I will now take a step away from my "eco-friendly-green" stance for a moment to celebrate Barbie's 50th Birthday! Do you know the saying that we see on stickers and license plate frames, "I want to be Barbie, the bitch has everything"? Well... I really do! Especially now! At 50 Barbie looks fantastic -- damn that plastic that doesn't wrinkle. (By the way... Barbie isn't biodegradable... not exactly eco-friendly- not sure if I condone it or not these days :) I always played with Barbie as a little girl. Oh the memories of playing Barbie with my friends. In more recent years, Barbie has been doing the princess thing, which isn't my favorite of her persona's, but the nieces like it, so my lips are sealed in their presence.
Did you know that in honor of Barbie's 50th Birthday on March 9th Mattel revealed the famous Malibu Dream House (life size) and a new version of Barbie?
(http://laist.com/2009/03/10/photos_of_barbies--yes_the_doll--ne.php?gallery0Pic=7#gallery ) Click here for photos. I so badly want to live in this Malibu Dream house. I don't even care that it is in Malibu and my commute would be horrendous.... Please please please can I live there? Her house is fabulous! I doubt if Ken or any other man would want to sleep there and call it their own, but as for the ladies this house is 'bitchin'.
Now back to reality - they should give this house to less fortunate little girls or something along those lines. With the recession, everyone in the country losing their homes and jobs, global warming and a war that angers me I do think money could have been better spent. Enjoy the pictures and the memories of playing with Barbie.
Happy 50th Birthday Barbie!

Did you know Barbie was modeled after a German sex doll? At least that's what I learned on the History Channel last week. The feminist in me had a field day with that...;)
Yeah for Barbie! Oh, and I just have to tell you. So I went to the dump on saturday, and I was shocked at the the area around the dump. Lining the streets were grocery bags, stuck in all the tumble weeds. It was a really sad sight. So, I'm going to do it, I'm buying eco-friendly bags, and hopefully I remember the kids when I go in the store!
