What Luck!

On the right side of my blog I have a panel called This Day in History. What luck that I read it today in 1682 King Louis XIV moved his Court to Versailles.

http://encyclopedia.tfd.com/Palace+of+Versailles click here to learn more about the history of Versailles and the French Court.

Visiting Versailles was probably one of my favorite things we did while in France. We decided that the easiest way to get there and back would be by train. It took probably about an hour. When I got off the train I was so excited I remember walking out of the train station looking right and left- like, "where is it?" Obviously it isn't across from the train station, silly Quel! We walked a couple of blocks and then when we turned the corner ... Voila! Versailles! It is huge and so beautiful that I really wanted to sneak down an un-guarded hallway and hide in one of the rooms until everyone left so I could call it home. Versailles is always described as lavish and lavish it most certainly was! If you don't think you'll go visit it, just watch the movie Marie Antoinette, written and directed by Sophia Coppola.
