Q Hearts LA

These are some photos from around the Los Angeles area that I have taken over the past year or so.

"Beachy Toes"

Near El Matador Beach which is North of Malibu on Pacific Coast Highway

El Matador Beach, California

Dr. Seuss has a star on Hollywood Boulevard! Who knew? Here is a link to the complete list of Stars with stars and the location.

A fun colorful sign in a gated community near Santa Barbara.

Some awesome Graffiti art. This was taken Downtown Los Angeles near M's office.

More awesome graffiti in downtown LA.

What could be more LA? I snapped this from the car as we were (see green light) driving. I felt it captured the essence of the city with visible traffic, palm trees, billboards and of course, Hollywood Blvd.

Crazy LA nights!

Stairs leading to the beach at El Matador Beach, California.

Dockweiler Beach, near the LAX Airport. It is rarely sunny there because of how near it is to the airport and all kinds of pollution, but it sure was this year on the 4th of July weekend. By "sunny" I mean, see your shadow sunny.

Under the pier at Manhattan Beach

Manhattan Beach

Birds on Manhattan Beach

Manhattan Beach. It was mostly cloudy the day I took this photo. I was so excited to take my adorable nephew, Kody, there when he came to visit me last autumn. He's a cowboy, and dresses the part well. I asked him if he wanted to stop before the beach and I'd buy him a pair of flip flops, foreseeing that cowboy boots don't mix well with sandy beaches. He turned down my offer by saying, "Aunt Quel, I wear my boots everywhere!" Well alright! So our only stop was so he could take off the boots and roll up the Wranglers. That is what happens when you take a suburban/countryish boy to the coast!

Manhattan Beach lifeguard shack

This is from my front yard - I love palm trees because they remind me that I live here, where I have always wanted to live. Los Angeles is a great city and I'm happy that I call it home. Some dreams do come true :)

A rare colorful sunset taken somewhere near the West side. I like how all of the power lines are visible but do not take away from the beauty of that sunset.

Another rare colorful sunset. This one I took from my front room window. I like that the screen I'm shooting through is visible. One of my favorite things is sitting near my front window in the evenings and watching the sun go down.
Note: I say "rare colorful sunset" because where I grew up in Northern Utah they have THE most AMAZING colorful and breathtaking sunsets so many nights a year. Although sunsets are lovely here, the colors are only this bold sometimes.
