My Favorite Things:
Alicia tagged me, so... these are a few of my favorite things:
Sunglasses: I decided to do two favorites for S. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my sunglasses. I always wear them - I have to have them. I have several pairs and usually shop for more, frequently. Choosing a new pair of sunglasses is not something I take lightly! Its rare that I am outside (and sometimes inside) without my sunglasses on.
Annie's Naturals Woodstock Dressing: Fantastic Salad dressing. I buy it from Whole Foods. I have a difficult time finding salad dressings that I like and I feel are worth the calories and fat that they contain. This one is perfect. Usually I resort to just squeezing a lemon over my salad because I find it most refreshing - but Annie's saves me on those days when I want a little "punch" with my salad.
Boule Pastry and Chocolate Shop. This place is near my home, if you can you should get some of their goodies. Their chocolate could rival with the best of European chocolate, melts so smooth. All of their chocolates and candies are the best I have ever had. Worth every cent - err dollar, certainly not bargain basement snacks. They should be reserved for special occasions.
Catalina Island. Off the Coast of California but still in Los Angeles County, Catalina is just a fun place to visit and to forget the rest of the world.
Devil Wears Prada, The: What a fun movie! Unfortunately I never read the book. I think the movie was a lot of fun though and I could watch it a few times a year. I was thinking of other things I could put for my "D" favorites... Dior, Da Vinci, Dean Martin, The Doors, Dr. Dre....
Elise- My mom. I LOVE my mom. She is a really great mom and a good friend. I love her name and I always have. Mom has always loved Beethoven's Fur Elise song that is so beautiful, its perfect and I know that Grandma and Grandpa were inspired when they named her that. Love my daddio too, but I already had a good idea for the letters that start with his name! Dad is my namesake, or I am his. :)
Fountain, The: The movie the Fountain is such a great movie. If you haven't seen it yet, I recommend it. I have a fond memory of seeing this movie because we got to go to the premier in Hollywood at the Grauman's Chinese Theater with all the celebrities that come along with a Hollywood Red Carpet Premier! We sat in the same row about 20 seats to the left of Rachel Weisz and Hugh Jackman. Also, let us not forget the fabulous director Darren Aronofsky. Darren has directed other great films such as the most recent Wrestler, Requiem for a Dream, and Pi. The Fountain is a beautiful movie and its always fun to remember going to a real red carpet premier. http://www.apple.com/trailers/wb/thefountain/
Green Tea, Gangsta Rap/Hip Hop, Good friends, and Green Leafy Veggies: I asked my good friend for help because I could not think of anything I like that starts with a G. This was her list and I thought, "wow she knows me so well," I will just list them all. Thanx Andrea!
Holistic Medicine: I prefer holistic medicine to Western Medicine. When I say holistic that includes herbs, natural remedies and Eastern Medicine practices. It works better for me and has helped me out so much at times when the medical doctors told me there was nothing wrong and I knew that there was. If you want more info on this- I won't bore everyone with my story- just email me.
Iphone: I got my iphone last autumn. It is the most wonderful gadget. I love my iphone. I strongly recommend this device to anyone who breathes!
Juno Soundtrack: I was having a difficult time coming up with a good favorite J. Then I was looking through my music and noticed my Juno Soundtrack. This is a fun album with a nice mix of music. The movie is fun to watch and the music is great to listen to. If cassette tapes were still the most advanced way of listening to an album, I would have worn out my Juno tape by now.
KUBE Art: It speaks for itself. * www.thekube.tv *
La Mer: they have amazing products. I always hear women over 40 say that they wish they would've started to wear wrinkle and/or eye cremes in their 20s. So I got smart and decided to get a head start and have begun to find my favorites. La Mer's eye cream is fabulous and I believe it keeps those fine lines away from the face. Lines are for sports courts and ticket sales, not for the face.
Mac/Apple: I LOVE my Mac computer and all of the programs that come with it! Itunes, Garage Band, Iphoto...all of them.
Nylon Magazine: Nylon is one of my favorite magazines. One of my many fun indulgences is looking through (and reading) magazines.
Opera: I enjoyed going to the opera earlier this year. It isn't just seeing the Opera either - its the whole package. I loved picking out my opera glasses to help me see the details on the stage better. I like getting dressed up and going to an event where everyone else has to look nice and dress up too. It makes me nostalgic for a time in history that I didn't live through - a classier time when culture activites were more popular and frequent because there was not television or blue jeans.
Piano: I do have a really nice "piano" that M bought me as a gift that I love playing. I have played the piano since I was six. Although I don't always play as much as I would like to these days, I still enjoy the feeling I get when I sit down to play. I love listening to piano music as much as I love playing it. Thank you, Parental Units for paying for my lessons for all of those years.
Q: Such a pretty letter, Q has always been one of my favorites not just because it appears in my first name either! Its beautiful in print and written, and it is a rare letter.
Roc Dermatologic Enydrial Repairing Lip Care: The most fabulous lip balm/chap stick that I have ever used. M introduced me to this originally - he got it in France when he was there. I looked everywhere for it, then I finally found it through an online pharmacy. No prescription is needed - It is just difficult to find. Its not waxy, smelly, or does it ball up or do funky things on top of your lips, it just prevents chapped lips.
Salt and Vinegar Chips by Kettle Chips: These delightful chips are so good and worth every calorie. I like all of the Kettle chips brand flavors, but the salt and vinegar are especially delicious. Blue Bag.... the ones in the blue bag.
Tarina Tarantino: I am really loving all TT stuff right now. If this is the first you are hearing about TT, I suggest you google.
Umbrella: I know this is silly but because I am a lover of rain, clouds, and puddles I also really like umbrellas and rain boots. There are few things as fun as walking in the rain. I have a really great Louis Vuitton umbrella that I like because it just keeps the rain off my hair so well! hahahah!
V Magazine: Another of my favorite magazines. V has a lot of Couture and High Fashion- which I find so intriguing to look at. It is inspiring and I generally look forward to scouring the pages of the latest issue.
Water: For lack of a better idea of my favorite things for W, I decided to share my love of water. I enjoy drinking water, but since I don't drink soda, I have really taking a liking to sparkling water. I even bought a contraption so I can carbonate my own water at home! It adds a nice kick to the water -I love the bubbles. Water in general is nice too, I like rivers, lakes and the ocean that I live by. Bodies of water are pretty, reflective (pun intended) and so soothing to watch.
Xanadu the movie: Yes that wonderful gem of a movie made in 1980 starring the one and only Olivia Newton John. Roller skating hasn't been the same since!
Yellow: I have been a big fan of the color yellow for a while now. I love to wear it, I like yellow foods like lemon, pineapple and banana. I think yellow flowers are the most beautiful. Sunshine is yellow - I do like a little sunshine. Yahooooo for Yellow!
Zeppelin, Led: I don't think this even requires a description. Zeppelin is all I need to say!
"... when the dog bites, when the bee stings, when I'm feeling sad I simply remember my favorite things and then I don't feel SO BAD!"
