Part II- Visiting the 801
After the lovely IKEA adventure we traveled the long road back to my parent’s house. After a brief relaxation period, we braced ourselves for more family time. I must make a note of my parent’s errand-schedule. Whether they have 2 things to do or 486, it seems to work better for them to do things 2 at a time, then go home have a drink of water sit in the chair for a few minutes, then go back out to do more errands. I know it sounds crazy to you and me, but to them, it is as normal as the nose on your face. Given that, our day seemed to wear them out and yet, we had so much more to do!
My dad called to check in on his mother to see how she was doing. There had been a death in the family earlier that week and we never got any details as promised. After dad’s phone conversation with his mother we found out (as usual) that we are in fact always the last to know. The funeral had taken place 3 days prior. O well. Nothing any of us could do about it now. We proceeded to go to Grandma’s house so that I could see her for a few minutes. My two cousins and their husband’s were there along with my father’s sister. I could call her my aunt, but… I think that is a title one should live up to. Clearly she has not for me. Grandma is doing well despite being knocked down by a neighbor’s Labrador the day before. She had just a few stitches and some bruising. At least she did not break her hip.
They all (my father, his sister, and his mother) attempted a conversation as best they could without listening to one another. I attempted to make conversation with my cousins. Emphasis on attempted. Usually people can talk to each other. Some will even say that talking to relatives is easier. Not so much in this case. Usually questions are followed by discussion or questions from the answerer, but in this case all my inquiries were answered with short, curt answers. When it seemed as though all attempts at conversation were exhausted I decided it was time for us to go. Very strange indeed.
It was one of my niece’s birthdays so we went to see her. Happy Birthday Taelor!
Long day! Whew!
After talking to my parent's about what exactly one of my cousins does for a living, I found out that she sells jewelry for some jewelry company. (I wasn't aware it was a jewelry company, I thought it was a cookie dough company of some sort based on the name of the company). It is obvious that I have a knack for fashion and an addiction to all things I can buy-- I guess my cousin will miss out on some money should could have made off of me. When someone is a total party animal, don't you want them at your parties? Help bring the fun home? Well, when someone spends money so that she can have new clothes, shoes, jewelry, and etc... need I go on? You see the point I am making here.
Part III coming soon!
