I'm a year and a half into my vegetarian lifestyle and since the onset of this I have vowed not to buy any new leather products. This covers, among other things, handbags, shoes and belts. I wasn't about to get rid of my beautiful Gucci Heels, or my most favorite and beautiful brown heeled boots that I spent 2 months looking for - I had already purchased them before veggie life. So, I figured I would take good care of the leather that I already owned and do my best to find alternative options when making new purchases.
I love all things fashion and it can be difficult sometimes to keep my style and forsake all leather. I can't just walk into any shoe store and buy a pair of new shoes anymore. I have looked at the vegan friendly shoe stores online and most of the options there leave me depressed. I am vegetarian, I'm not willing to forgo class, style and sheer cuteness. I shouldn't have to! So, I have found a few pairs of cute shoes to keep me happy. It is hit and miss and I get them from all over the place. I'm not wearing designer shoes anymore for the most part, sad I know, but the sacrifice is totally worth it.
Just think for a minute next time you step into Bloomy's or Nordstrom or wherever you buy shoes (Payless even) and consider all of that leather sitting there. Where it came from, etc. Consider trying a pair of faux leather, all man made material shoes. Save a life - buy faux. Its a tough world for a fashionista like me that won't wear leather, but I'll figure it out. Its all about the hunt anyway, right? The adrenaline rush I get when I find that pair that I've been looking for is incalculable for me. You know the feeling I'm talking about, right? Stepping out of your house in your brand new sexy shoes...makes me feel light as a feather and happy as a songbird!

First of all, don't call me sweetie. I don't know who you are. Unless you have enough gall to at least post your name or who you are - don't comment on my life. I am doing the best I see fit to do my part in balancing environment and care for other living things. I have done my homework, thank you very much.
